Last fall we made a trip to Kalispell, Montana, for a visit. It is so beautiful over there, just outside Glacier National Park. On the day I took this picture, we had been to the CSKT Bison Range, which I highly recommend. I had asked too many times for us to pull over so I could get a picture. Instead, I just started the "point and shoot" method from the backseat of the car. I was rewarded with some little video clips, a couple hundred blurry pictures, and maybe a handful that you could sort of tell what we were driving by. Perfect! That reminds me, I really need to delete all those bad pictures. (However, I am a Pruitt, and a Pruitt never throws away anything if they can help it.)

It had snowed the night before, so there was a light dusting on those mountains. This little farm is tucked in under the shadow of the mountain range, enjoying the fall and preparing for the winter. I bet those people have been on this farm for a couple of generations, and there is no place they would rather be. They work hard every day of the week, but they wouldn't have it any other way. Maybe Grampa planted that big yellow tree for their anniversary one year. Maybe they raise sheep or cows, and they have brought a new baby lamb into the house to keep warm by the fire, so they could feed and watch over it. I bet they have a good black lab that is a great bird dog, and a border collie to keep the sheep in line. They still use the quilts that Gramma and the Aunties made, as well as her recipes. With Thanksgiving coming, it's time to start thinking about those. The best times are evenings, when they pull out a guitar or sit down to the old piano and sing together by the fire. It's good to be home.

The family farm is a warm and welcoming place for family and friends. A place to tuck in and feel right at home, because no one is a stranger.

Thanks for reading along today. I hope you are tucked into your "happy place" with a dog or cat in your lap.

Sending hugs your way,

Kristi
