Up on Mount Hood at about 6,000' is a historic resort called Cloud Cap Inn. Now used by the Hood River Crag Rats, who conduct search and rescue operations on the mountain, Cloud Cap Inn has the most majestic view of Mount Hood. Wildfires in 2008 and again in 2011 have taken the forest, leaving the trees bare and gnarled by years of wind and rain. The Inn still stands as a testament to the hard work of the fire crews and the incident management teams. I posted about Cloud Cap in a previous blog. You can read it here: Experiencing Cloud Cap Inn.
We were up at Cloud Cap the 1st of July and I got the chance to spend an hour painting the mountain. It wasn't enough time but I was pretty pleased with the result.
Today I could have spent a couple more days fussing with this painting. As hard as I try to simplify things, I just can't help myself!
We had quite a fiery sunset tonight, and I know some of you caught an incredible sunrise show this morning. One more blessing of fall!
Take care and be good to yourself! More tomorrow.
