When you visit Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada, you can't help but be overwhelmed by the gorgeous color of the water. Fed by glaciers this turquoise lake is so fresh and stunning. The morning we were there the clouds were laying low over the mountains. Only one family was out on the lake in their little boat enjoying the morning. I have another picture I'd like to paint of this scene. In it, Gary is standing right there in the V where those mountains meet the lake. He has his back to me, standing under his big black umbrella on this very rainy morning. This is such a good memory… if you can, you really need to see this lake and the Canadian Rockies. I'd love to hear your stories from being in this special place.

Without painting right there, I don't think there is any way to get the exact color of the water. With a camera your photo is always darker and you can't see the colors in the shadows. I can't wait to get back out and paint outside, I'm kind of a woosie though and am not interested in painting in the rain.

Today I listened to my inner voice telling me it can hardly wait til it doesn't have to listen to another opera for awhile. (At least that's what Gary says.) "Tristan and Isolda" by Wagner was today's opera. I like Wagner's music that has more large choruses. Like the The Flying Dutchman. This one did not.

I hope you enjoy today's little watercolor. It was a huge experiment for me, but I am pleased with the results!

Enjoy your weekend.
