Day 2 of the 50 Days of Painting - Morning Sun Tossing Shadows
My husband came by my studio today and was seriously concerned about my well being. He doesn’t seem to think spending 8 hours on this project every day for the next 48 days is very sustainable, (or wise.) Hmmmmm. When I was thinking about doing this project I thought the “little studies” would just flow and things would be fine and dandy. Yesterday’s painting took me 4 hours and today I thought I was doing good, but it was 4.5 hours. My previous instructor Andy Evansen is always painting a watercolor in a couple of hours. I am really hopefully over these next few weeks I will get faster too.
Today’s painting is called “Morning Sun Tossing Shadows.” One morning in August I was up at my cousin’s place walking along the road to the barn and the sun was happily shining down on the pasture tossing shadows on everything it touched. The fence line is telling the story of its life, as it surrounds and protects the field. Each post, different from the last has it’s own tilt and personality and is connected with barbed wire. On this farm there is room to stretch and breathe, with a sky dark enough to see the Milky Way and the Northern Lights. And, you can almost see Canada from here, which is about 22 miles away.
If you would like read about the 50 Days of Painting, you can read this blog post.

Sending lots of sunshine your way!
